How we share...and connect
I'm hoping that with my student Instagram account, my message of mental health awareness and acceptance with other people will be spread to more people, however, I'm afraid that my account won't be taken as seriously. I'm hoping that especially mental health with people of color and teenagers in general, that stigma will disappear with my positivity and self-care posts. I believe that everyone is on their own journey towards a healthier life, especially with mental health, and that no one should judge another if they're seeking help and are genuinely going through a tough time.
Although I'm not a therapist, I do believe that I still, as a human, have the job to help people, especially if I have the platform and opportunity to do so with my Instagram account. I hope that my account will be able to spread enough positivity to at least one person, who will continue to spread that to more and more people, to hopefully create a safer, accepting, and loving community.
I often get told that I should delete my account, because I'm not actually helping people since there's no evidence to prove "positivity", but with my posts so far, some of my followers have DM'd me asking for some help from me, which was one of the greatest feelings in the world, being able to help another. That's why I do this. I hope those who are reading this know that you don't need to stop yourself from helping other people from the fear that you won't actually help them. The fact that you're taking the initiative to take time out of your day to talk to someone struggling is beautiful on its own. That's what I am hoping to inspire with my instagram account, @thinkingofclouds!
I would love for you to join me in this mission of positivity and check out my Insta; @thinkingofclouds
