As our whole world seems to be frozen with anticipation and for many a deep sense of loss due to the Covid-19 virus. We hope you set aside time each day for respite. That may look like rereading a favorite novel, massaging your animals ears, or singing at the top of your lungs. Whatever it is - be fully present, unapologetic and make it routine.

In the absence of routine, or homeostasis, we unconsciously exhaust ourselves trying to balances things out (insert coffee) especially when we are stressed out! It doesn’t stop there increased stress levels impact our sleep, metabolism and mood. Depending on your personality type, having a strict schedule maybe foundational to your mental health and for people who are more “go with the flow” this wild ride maybe a little less stressful.

It goes without saying that good self-care is a top priority these days. Regardless of our where we are in the world or your preferences; the basics of wellness still ring true.

  • Mindfulness practices creates space for clear and easy flowing thoughts

  • Exercise, nutrition and sleep helps our bodies to stay healthy and be better prepared to respond to what each day brings.

  • Staying connected, even for introverts, keeps our hearts full.

  • Selfless acts, gratitude and affirmations keeps our spirits high.

Another of our fav practices for keeping sane and on the path of self-improvement is journaling. Tip! Set an alarm on your phone for the same time each day to build up this habit. During your next journaling session consider the following questions:

  • How do I feel right now? How is that different than how I normally feel?

  • What do I have more of?

  • How has this shift in my routine created space?

  • What is sparking joy for me right now?

  • Where does my body need some attention?

Taking this time to check with yourself is such a great gift to inform our growth and be fully present. There are no right or wrong answers. Nothing to fix or feel guilty about. Perhaps you feel at ease; was your normal to be running a muck? Perhaps you feel lonely, how was your need for companionship being filled before? Set aside a few extra minutes once a month to go back and review your reflections to celebrate changes and draw attention to areas where you might additional support.

If you are experiencing huge shifts in your mood or the persistent feeling of sadness know that these feelings are normal and don’t hesitate to ask for help! And if journaling isn’t your thing try doing a guided body scan meditation to ground yourself.
