One of the most popular items for self care is books! The act of reading in and of itself adds to our over all wellbeing; double bonus if the topic is self care! For National Self Improvement month we asked some Kindness Warriors what their favorite books were and why - here’s what they said.
One of my favorite self improvement books is The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz, this book has helped keep me strong in the past years as I try to read it at least once a year. I do practice the Four agreements daily and they are: 1. Be impeccable with the word 2. Don’t take anything personally 3. Don’t make assumptions and 4. Always do your best.
By making a pact with these four key agreements, an individual is able to dramatically impact the amount of happiness they feel in their lives, regardless of external circumstances.
This book has been a game changer for myself and many friends. It has kept me from the drama that life can become and I am so happy to share it with you!
This is really nerdy but I love the Introduction to Myers-Briggs Type by Isabel Briggs-Myers! I use the book in my personal and professional life. A big part of my personal “continuous improvement” is how I communicate to and with others.
When a conversation doesn’t goes as planned I often think “what’s their zodiac sign?” or “I bet I know their MBTI!”. Having strong and healthy relationships is very valuable to me and this books is foundational for figuring our how to build relationships with people who I may not just click with on the first go.
The Power of Now: A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle for sure! This book taught me about presence - the source of creating your own reality; on purpose. I’ve probably read this book 8 times. Each time I read I get something different, because I am reading it through that present moment.
I found out about the book from Oprah and have continued to share the abundance of the book by gifting copies to friends and family.
In the Company of Women: Inspiration and Advice from Over 100 Makers, Artists, and Entrepreneurs
This is my fav! My go-to for a quick reminder, that I must do this! The author, Grace Bonney, is passionate about the creative community. She features so many great women doing it ALL in these pages; with realistic heart-felt motivation. I highly recommend!
