A place of peace
We are spending more time in our homes than EVER! Like ever ever. Getting outside for a walk or exercise is important for health too but while we are spending most of our time social distancing investing a little more into home is worth it. We’ve know the importance of a good mattress, since most of us spend almost a 1/3 of our lives in bed. Well that same goes for our homes.
Investing in your home doesn’t have to be about spending money. It’s about our daily habits, organization and the vibe you’re creating. Take the time to journal on the things that make your day:
What can’t you live without? Plants, light, music, cleanliness?
Invest here and make those apart of you daily habits. Start your day with a quick clean or watering plants, repeat daily!
What can you count on to give you a boost? Coffee, sunshine, pet(s), Netflix and chill, fuzzy socks or a hot shower?
Keep these things ready to go, in supply, and easily accessed! You never know when you need to stop, drop and nap in the sun - to defuse a tough day. If it’s place specific like a hot shower, make sure you always have fresh towels and your fave toiletries at the ready.
What drives you crazy? Tripping over or misplacing things?
Come up with a system that WORKS for you. It’s so easy to get into habits and accept that they aren’t working. Taking a little time to investigate a new process pays out big when you find the right thing for you.
Start with small adjustments. Never finish the carton of ice cream? Stop buying them and treat yourself to a cone for a special treat.
What tasks/chores do you avoid? Laundry, taking out the trash, making your bed?
Make it fun! Who says folding laundry and dance parties don’t go together? Taking our the recycle can quickly become a great place to practice your shot - hit those 3 pointers!
Have a partner or kids to share chores with? Sit down and talk out some negotiation or swapping of least favorite chores goes a long way.
Lastly take your time. We always seem to be in a rush and miss the smallest things in life. Take the time to really feel the hot water on your skin when you shower or wash your hands. Give you dinner a little “Salt Bae” action! Use the fancy plates. Be grateful.
